Rogier Creemers is an Assistant Professor in the Law and Governance of China at Leiden University. He has a combined background in Chinese Studies, International Politics and Law. His major research interests are the development of China’s digital society, and China’s participation in global cyberspace processes. He is currently leading a Vidi-project, sponsored by the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research, investigating China’s efforts to become a Smart State. He is also a co-founder of the DigiChina project, which aims to make information concerning China’s digital revolution available to global audiences.
China’s Digital Revolution
Over the past few years, China has rapidly accelerated its efforts to become a digital superpower. From AI and big data to sophisticated hardware, the country aims to become a global leader. This presentation will discuss where this drive originates from, how it is structured, and how it will impact the Internet both inside and outside of China.
